Absolutely tremendous. It’s hard to reconcile the remarkable concentration and quality of this wine with the modest price.
I know you’re probably looking at this wine and glancing over at some of its neighbors that command 2-3 times the price. Do yourself a favor: skip those today and give this one a try.
If you do, you’ll be rewarded with a dense, round Merlot expressing aromas of spices, cedar, tobacco, cherry, and hibiscus. A few years of bottle age have allowed for the softening of the tannins to a fine velvety grain and integrated any touches of oak into the rich blackberry, kirsch, and cocoa flavors. An impressive Merlot that wouldn’t be out of place in the Right Bank.
